Verdict

The hat-tick seeking Passionately Royal gets the nod over Fly To Dubai, who looks the obvious danger. Davy Crockett ran a promising race on his reappearance and is also worth considering if he is supported. Fly To Dubai is in great heart and will handle the conditions well. He will have no problems with this uphill finish and can make sure that the selection knows he has been in a race. However, Passionately Royal looks a step ahead of the assessor at present and is hard to ignore while he is in such good form. The son of Royal Applause was gelded during the close season, which seems to have helped him stay focused during his races. The way he pulled clear of his field at Newcastle suggested that Passionately Royal has not stopped improving yet and his 6lb penalty is not expected to be to much of a problem for him at this stage.
