Verdict

In a wide open contest Petana is given a tentative vote, Westborough and Flying Tackle are also expected to run well. The selection has been running consistently well over the past few weeks and put in another good effort last time when fourth behind Elvina at Thirsk. As a result of those efforts her handicap mark has in fact gone up, however she has a very good apprentice claiming five pounds and could go close at rewarding odds. If the rain gets into the ground Westborough will be a danger to al. He landed a similar race at Ayr in October and looked on his way back at Newcastle last time. Flying Tackle has solid form this season including a victory at Beverley and still looks on a very handy mark. The pick of the others could be the consistent Geordie Dancer, but in a very weak affair Petana just edges the decision.
