Verdict
In a modest race, Provocative is given a chance to break his maiden tag after an impressive display behind Vodka Bleu at Haydock on debut. His name slipped into many notebooks on that day before the bandwagon crashed with a bang during a disappointing performance at Hexham next time out. His performances have suggested that he could develop into a staying chaser in time and while 2m4f may prove on the sharp side, he would not have to be at his best to win this race. June's River was rated in excess of 100 over fences. He sneaks into this race by virtue of not winning a hurdles contest. Mary Reveley has enjoyed particular success when sending out her older horses, such as Old Red, via this route in the past. Skenfrith is plenty exposed and the suspicion is that two miles is probably a much more suitable trip. Red Marsala showed little when quietly fancied for a Wetherby bumper while Fromragstoriches is watched in the market for any signs of confidence. In a weak race, Provocative is put forward as the most feasible option.
