A headscratcher of the highest order with minimal stakes recommended on Bay Magic to see off Julie's Boy and Moscow Leader. Lucinda Russell's horse has shown consistent form and perhaps more importantly in this type of event, races close to the pace. Today's pilot has achieved two minor placings on him in the past and we will side with him to go one better on this occasion. Julie's Boy demonstrated a modicum of ability when finishing second in a Thurles maiden last year. He was well supported priot to his latest run at Worcester but proved to be a major disappointment in the race. He is often held up in his races which may not suit the "hands and heels" element to this contest. Moscow Leader sports the best numeric form. However, those figures bely the fact that he has raced in some three horse epics and that on his last visit to the racecourse, his jumping was distinctly sloppy. His sole victory came when forcing tactics were utilised and it will be interesting to see if they are employed here. Monsieur Poirot has the best known jockey aboard. He has some ability but Pauline Robson will need to get him settled early as he has a tendancy to throw away his chances through pulling hard throughout his races. Red Rover is watched in the market now that he is dropped to such lowly grade. In a low-grade event, Bay Magic is reluctantly suggested.
