Jack Garrity steered CLOUDS REST (NAP) to a very comfortable all-the-way success at Beverley last Sunday and his claim almost cancels out the penalty incurred so Richard Fahey's filly is taken to complete a quick double. She was earlier a long way behind Indescribable at York but the latter blotted his copybook with a shocking effort at Thirsk, a run which the stewards enquired about. While the run was much too bad to be true it may be worth watching Mark Johnston's colt this time. Bowson Fred went up 8lb for his victory at Musselburgh but it didn't prevent success in a much better race at Chester though another 9lb rise looks excessive. King Crimson, who didn't get the run of the race in that latter event, has since won at Bath and should get much closer on today's terms. Danot followed a victory in a Beverley claimer with a poor effort in a nursery on this track.
