Verdict

Despite poor recent form and a terrible strike-rate, WAFFLE is so far ahead on official ratings that he's impossible to oppose. It's two years since he was a close fourth in the Steward's Cup off a mark of 103 and he's now 25lb lower but he's been racing in much better company and should have few problems doubling his winning tally on his 34th start. Live Dangerously is rated 12lb below and has to concede 6lb. He was beaten in a similar event at Thirsk last time and his wins-to-runs ratio isn't much better than that of the selection. Mission Impossible, the winner of eight races, had been going well in Class 6 handicaps before finding a slight step-up in grade beyond him here last month when last of nine and beaten a long way. Gaelic Wizard wasn't entitled to finish as close as he did in a Beverley claimer last time as he was well out of it on official figures but dual Polytrack winner Plunder has yet to reach a place in eight starts on Turf including in a seller last time.
