    Verdict

Firesong can get recent losses back at the expense of House Martin, with Onyergo worth a mention at least. Sylvester Kirk has his team in good order at present and the stable will be confident of success her with Firesong who is on a retrieval mission after failing to land a gamble at Nottingham two weeks ago. The son of Dansili was all the rage at that evening meeting, and with Kieren Fallon booked to ride, his supporters were already counting their money when the gates opened. However, after moving through from the back to dispute the lead, he started to hang left in the closing stages and went down narrowly to newcomer Trick Of Light. He left his backers licking their wounds, but there was not a great deal wrong with his effort, he was just unlucky on the day and compensation awaits. Apart from the newcomer Eabha, the rest are fully exposed and the selection only need improve marginally to open his account. Best of the rest should be House Martin who will appreciate the return to faster underfoot conditions after floundering in the soft ground at Newbury last time. She can get second, but Firesong should take all the beating.
