Kangaruz shaped like a certain future winner on his debut, and can open his account at the expense of Making Music, with Pauvic best of the rest. This event has cut up badly, with just five of the 26 five-day entries standing their ground, and in all probability, Kangaruz has scared away most of the opposition. Andrew Balding's colt was the only one to give the long odds-on Cheap N Chic a race on his Brighton debut a fortnight ago, and with even minimal improvement he should be far too strong for today's rivals. The best of the remaining quartet should be Making Music but he is already starting to look fully exposed, having had seven outings already. However, his second at York in July makes him the main danger ahead of Pauvic. The latter was only four lengths behind Tuesday's Ripon winner Guto on his recent Wolverhampton introduction so has to be respected, but preference is for Kangaruz.
