JONNIE SKULL has been putting in some good work from higher marks on the Polytrack and now back to the same mark as his last win on that particular surface we'll take him to come good again, while Cadeaux Fax and Golden Prospect can run him close. Paul McEntee's three-year-old won a moderate Kempton contest in August and has run with credit on all three subsequent starts. You could argue that his turf form is not as good as what he produces on the Polytrack, but he is solid enough in both disciplines in the context of this race and with trip and ground to suit we will give him the vote. Cadeaux Fax is 6lbs higher than when scoring at Chepstow last month and was beaten back there from today's mark last time out. In addition to that, today's conditions are not ideal for him. Golden Prospect has a couple of course wins to his name and is 5lbs higher than the best of those today. However, fast ground suits and with course form a big plus at this venue he should be capable of going very close. Ausonius has been brought along quietly in maidens and Luca Cumani's colt has a lowly mark of just 55 for this, his handicap introduction, so a market check is definitely advised in case the yard feel that he has got in lightly, although fast ground probably won't be ideal. The same comment applies to Kannon, although she did win here over a mile last season and is not badly handicapped on that evidence. Prince Valentine is worth a mention as he loves it here and is on a winning mark, although all four of his course successes have come over a mile, and we'll side with Jonnie Skull for today.
