chased leaders over 4f,
behind, headway under pressure over 1f out, stayed on final furlong
prominent, hard ridden 2f out, weakened over 1f out
in touch, ridden to chase winner 1f out, ran on, just held
always prominent, edged left over 1f out, not quickened final furlong
made all, hard ridden final furlong, just held on
slowly away, soon tailed off
chased leaders until outpaced after 2f, headway 2f out, weakened inside final furlong
In this competitive opening juvenile maiden, Peeptoe is just preferred to Yajbill and Cordage. John Dunlop's filly has shaped well on both starts so far, third on debut at Salisbury and then runner-up to the useful Generous Option at Nottingham last time. She raced on the opposite side to the winner that day, and finished well clear of her eight rivals on the stands side, so it was a particularly good effort. Yajbill has been runner-up in three of his four starts so far, most recently at Goodwood, but while Mick Channon's colt probably deserves a race, he may have to settle for a place once again. Cordage was three and a half lengths behind Yajbill at Goodwood, but that was Gerard Butler's colt's debut, and he could easily improve. Come Good, Fasylitator and the Brian Meehan newcomer, The Pheasant Flyer, are others to consider but Peeptoe gets a confident vote.
