In depth

Verdict

Low-grade fare and Mountain Pass is only a tentative nomination to fend off the likes of Zafashah and Stagnite, while a move for Tiny Tim could be interesting to note. The last named has been hard to win with (one victory from 50 career starts) and is not one to trust implicitly. However, he has paid his way in place money and, having shown up well in a similar contest last time, he cannot be ruled out in a weak race like this. Stagnite won a modest handicap off this mark last month and is respected on that effort alone. He is versatile regarding the ground and should again go close. Zafashah has some good efforts to his name at this course and has to come into the reckoning. He has been in good heart lately and will be dangerous to ignore. However, better value can be found with Mountain Pass who drops into this grade for the first time. Mark Wallace's charge has dropped to a very fair mark and, as he is holding his form well at present, he looks reliable enough to give us a good run for the money in this company.
