A wide open handicap here and many would have chances on their best form with Kingscross, Hout Bay and Maddie's A Jem all shortlist material, but we will side with Marker as the one to beat. The selection will relish these conditions and won well when beating Kingscross last time, and although that rival is better off at the weights he won with plenty in hand and he is taken to defy the handicapper. Hout Bay will be a danger as he has been in good form, but he ran as though the handicapper had caught up with him when well beaten earlier this week, and for that reason he is passed over. Maddie's A Jem was a good second behind Saristar last time but that was on firm ground and her form on a softer surface leaves her with something to find. Najeebon is from a yard in form and is another worth considering, but for the winner we return to Marker.
