In depth

Verdict

Pour La Victoire has an incredible record here having won ten of 29 races on the track. He's quite capable of winning again from this mark though generally prefers quicker ground. Thechildren'strust won an apprentice handicap at Salisbury last month so didn't carry a penalty at Epsom a week later but could only finish fourth and has 6lb extra here. The three-year-old BARDO CONTIGUO (NAP) was making his handicap debut when overcoming trouble in-running to score at Ayr for which a 3lb rise looks lenient. There's much more to come and providing he handles the conditions he can complete a double. Salt Whistle Bay was running well in better company during the summer and might just have needed the outing after a two-month break at Nottingham where he faded inside the final furlong.
