led, ridden and headed inside final furlong, one pace
chased leader, hard ridden 2f out, led inside final furlong, pushed out comfortably
settled last, ridden 3f out, soon beaten
There is only 1lb between the four runners here on official BHB ratings and, what can only be a tentative vote goes to Del Mar Sunset, who gets the verdict over Perfidious and Beauchamp Ribbon. The other runner in the race Ovigo, although strictly well enough treated, has shown little sign of encouragement in recent starts and is probably best left out of calculations. Perfidious has generally been in good form of late but blotted his copybook at York last time and is difficult to recommend on that evidence. Beauchamp Ribbon now appears to be in the grip of the handicapper and makes less appeal than Del Mar Sunset, who has shown a consistent level of form in handicaps recently. The step up to 10 furlongs is a worry for the William Haggas-trained gelding but as he is likely to make the running that may not be a great problem. The stable continues in good form so Del Mar Sunset gets the vote.
