Recalcitrant is forgiven an offday and is preferred to Bienheureux and Ile Michel. Simon Dow's gelding ran too badly to be true last week and we are heartened by the fact that the in-form William Buick has elected to keep the faith. Today's surface should hopefully put things right although this is not a particularly easy assignment. Bienheureux has the ability although he is impossible to predict with any certainty. Backers should expect to see him played as late as possible. Ile Michel dotted up in a weak affair at Lingfield. It was a long time between drinks as far as winning was concerned so the market is watched to see whether a follow up is possible. Blackmail has put up a few below par runs of late but Phillip Mitchell's team are in good nick at the moment and a bold display can be expected. Ariodante is a previous course-and-distance winner and is another for whom chances can be given on old form. Constant Cheers could be anything and looks best watched at present. Recalcitrant is given the chance to be anything but today.
