Piazza San Pietro is clearly in tip-top shape but it wouldn't pay to get carried away and the suggestion is to take him on with SCHOOLBOY CHAMP with Bateleur also coming under consideration. Rather surprisingly, Mick Channon hasn't enjoyed any success with his older horses at the track over the past five seasons but Bateleur has run well here in the past and is 7lbs below his last winning mark which came around twelve months ago. Choreography loves it here and is certainly capable of taking this contest but he may just need to come down another pound or two in the weights as connections continue to alternate the headgear. Highland Harvest is another capable of figuring in the finish but he doesn't win often enough which was an accusation that could have been levelled at Piazza San Pietro until recently. He may well have turned the corner and has run well enough at Goodwood to think that he'll be effective here but a chance is taken with Schoolboy Champ who ran encouragingly on his seasonal return when attracting support and shaping as though he'd improve for the run and this step up in trip.
