In depth

Verdict

Brannagh has the form in the book and an official rating of 77 to topple, however JAY'S TREATY shaped with promise at Goodwood and is fancied to win today ahead of Yashrid. Mark Johnston's colt finished six lengths behind Sard on debut but shaped nicely and being related to several juvenile winners is expected to make an impact sooner rather than later. Brannagh has always worn a tongue-tie and has run well in three maidens to date. He cost 105,000 guineas and as a half-brother to the high class Lord Shanakill he is expected to continue improving. Red Willows looks modest at best, whilst Lucky Diva will be eligible for handicaps after this run and looks opposable. Of more interest is Bonnie Brae who shaped well in two maidens as a two-year-old and should come on plenty for his Yarmouth reappearance. Yashrid cannot be ignored either; Michael Jarvis has his horses in great nick and this Rahy gelding should be more at home on this quicker ground. Jay's Treaty was green on debut but can take this step up in trip in his stride and emerge victorious.
