In depth

Verdict

Stamford Blue can land the four-timer at the main expense of Quantum Leap and High Ambition. The selection arrives here right on top of his game and he escapes a penalty for his win in an apprentice handicap last time. He scored with plenty in hand that day so is difficult to oppose here. Quantam Leap was only beaten a short-head by Takeitwo here last time but he did have the race run to suit that day and although he should get competitive again he may just find one too good. High Ambition is clearly a much better horse on turf than on the all-weather and he showed that with a smooth success at Yarmouth last time. He does have a penalty for that win but it would not be a surprise to see him go close today. Night Wolf goes well here and could prove best of the rest, but Stamford Blue is in great form and should be hard to beat.
