Verdict
GREEN BERET looked progressive last season and as long has he's trained on well he should score ahead of Cecily and Timeteam. An expensive addition to Princess Haya of Jordan's string the selection looks to be off a good mark for his handicap debut. His performance on his first run when beating subsequent Group Three winner Soul City is strong for and that was followed up with an improved display when placed behind two further Group class horses. The maidens tag was banished in fine style last time and connections seemed to have found a good opportunity to win a handicap at the first time of asking. Cecily won her maiden on fast ground but has so far failed to build on that success. Only in the last couple of starts has she started to progress again but it could be that she just wants quick going and the filly is weighted to go close. Timetime looks a little high in the weights after being penalised 11lbs after back to back victories in October and while he handled this current burden well last time but is yet to race on turf. One of the best races of the day this which should go to Green Beret.
