Verdict

Just the six runners here and it will be a surprise if Sir Michael Stoute's High Action is not good enough to open his account and he is the obvious selection to do so with Poppyline fancied to get the better of Private Benjamin for the forecast spot. The selection has found one too good in each of his last two starts, latterly when beaten a length by Mark Johnston's Chantress at Carlisle and, with nothing of that calibre in opposition today, the son of Theatrical is taken to go one better. Willie Muir's Poppy line drops back to a mile having failed to stay 1m2f on her last two starts in handicap-company but is rated 22lbs inferior to the selection, who has 24lbs in hand (on official BHB ratings) over Private Benjamin. Jamie Poulton's gelding steps up in trip and may not be as well suited by this distance as the Willie Muir-trained filly. Neither Count On Us or Flame Princess have shown any real signs of ability and, while Mick Channon's Sea Of Happiness is obviously open to improvement, a simple reproduction of his last time out run would surely suffice for High Action.
