Verdict
With Mick Channon's stable back among the winners, Joint Statement gets the vote to go one better than at Salisbury last time and is preferred to Baldour and Cal Mac. The selection was given a lot to do by his apprentice jockey last time and it looks significant that Chris Catlin takes over in the plate today. Left on the same mark as at Folkestone, Joint Statement has been given every chance by the handicapper and gets the verdict over Baldour. Ed Dunlop's gelding has been a consistent performer this term finding two too good in each of his three starts. However, they have all been over shorter trips and the son of Green Desert is not certain to stay this longer trip. Labrett is another that may struggle to reproduce his best over this trip, as is Swynford Welcome so a bigger danger may be Cal Mac. Although strictly held by the selection on running last time, it could be significant that connections have decided to take on the Channon horse again. Tiger Tops, from the in-form Chris Wall stable, is another worthy of a mention but we are happy to side with Joint Statement.
