This looks wide open with the possible exception of Cockney Boy, though Second Serve must be running out of chances. Inniscastle Lad tries a new trip and Thames Knight is definitely better over 1m2f while Atwix and Ravenous carry penalties for recent victories at a lower level, though are by no means ruled out of the equation. Rose Above has never won on Turf and has been raised 4lb since her course and distance second to Nigel but there are possibilities about June's Windsor winner William Hunter and the consistent Smoky Hill. WHINGING WILLIE (NAP) is back on the same mark as when second at Epsom in April. He's won twice here over 1m2f and this looks a bit easier than recent tests.
Whinging Willie (IRE) 25-1 (9-5) Behind, some late headway, never on terms, 7th of 10, 5 1/4l behind Zamperini (9-6) at Sandown 1m 2f hcp (3) gs in Jul.
Atwix 15-2 (9-8) In touch, headway on outer 3f out, led over 2f out, ran on, won at Epsom 1m 4f hcp (5) gd in Jul beating Speculator (9-3) by 3l, 7 ran.
Rose Above 16-1 (9-1) Tracked leading trio, ridden and went 2nd over 1f out, stayed on towards finish, always held, 2nd of 7, nk behind Nigel (9-7) at Brighton 1m 4f hcp (4) gd in Jul.
Thames Knight 16-1 (9-7) Took keen hold, tracked leading pair, pushed along over 3f out, ridden 1f out, weakened inside final furlong, 5th of 8, 3l behind Rock Steady (8-12) at Windsor 1m 2f hcp (4) gf in Jul.
William Hunter 7-1 (8-13) Keen, in touch, headway over 1f out, ridden and every chance inside final furlong, not quicken towards finish, 3rd of 6, 1 3/4l behind Life Less Ordinary (9-6) at Sandown 1m 6f hcp (4) gf in Jul.
Ravenous 4-1 (9-6) Tracked leading pair, led 2f out, ridden over 1f out, clear inside final furlong, stayed on strongly, won at Windsor 1m 4f hcp (5) gf in Jul beating Officer Drivel (9-5) by 2 3/4l, 7 ran.
Second Serve (IRE) 11-2 (9-4) Pulled hard, led and soon well clear, 15 lengths ahead halfway, reduced lead over 2f out, ridden headed and weakened over 1f out, 4th of 5, 12 1/2l behind Real Dominion (9-5) at Ascot 1m 4f hcp (4) gf in Jul.
Smoky Hill (IRE) 15-8fav (10-2) Chased leaders, driven over 1f out, every chance inside final furlong, 3rd and not pace of front pair towards finish, 3rd of 7, 1 1/4l behind Silver Alliance (10-9) at Newbury 1m 2f hcp (5) gf in Jul.
Cockney Boy 22-1 (9-7) In touch, pushed along and lost place before halfway, behind over 4f out, eased over 2f out, virtually pulled up, last of 7, dist behind High On Light (9-0) at Thirsk 1m 4f hcp (6) gs in Jul.
Inniscastle Lad 16-1 (9-5) Led until ridden and headed 2f out, chased leaders, weakened inside final furlong, 6th of 13, 5l behind Sindarban (9-10) at Carlisle 1m 3f hcp (4) gf in Jun.
