dwelt, always in rear, lost touch halfway, tailed off
took keen hold, chased leader over 4f out, ridden to lead narrowly over 1f out, strongly pressed final furlong, just held on
led, came to stand rail halfway, headed over 1f out, stayed challenging under pressure, not quicken near finish
held up in touch, effort from 2f out, strong challenge final furlong, just failed
took keen hold, chased leader to over 4f out, weakened over 2f out
dwelt, took keen hold and held up in touch, switched left over 1f out, stayed on over final furlong
A typical course maiden where a number of the leading contenders are in need of a confidence booster, so it would not be surprising to see a tactical affair unfold. And Count Walewski, as the obvious form horse, is the one they all have to beat - with Estimation and Exzilerating the two to concentrate on if there is going to be a minor upset. However, the John Dunlop-trained selection has fared well in his three outings this season and has shaped as if a modest contest such as this is his for the taking. The slight drop in trip will be in his favour and he has conditions to suit. Exzilerating has a tendency to run a little freely on occasions so Estimation may give Count Walewski the most to do. An each way move for Fitz The Bill will also be a significant pointer towards any confidence behind his chance.
