soon led, headed halfway, ridden 3f out, weakened over 1f out
chased leaders until weakened inside final 2f
led early, stayed in 2nd after, ridden and kept on over 1f out, no chance with winner
chased leaders, came to standside rail and led halfway, ridden clear over 1f out, eased final 50 yards
slowly away, tailed off from halfway
slowly into stride, soon in touch, never near leaders
dwelt, soon chased leaders, shaken up 2f out, ran on same pace
This will not be the most memorable race to be run this week and the gutsy Danish Monarch is taken to gain compensation for some near misses at the main expense of Pedrillo, who hails from a yard that always have to be respected at this course, and Named at Dinner, who has also shown enough to suggest that a race of this nature is well within him. Concert Hall is another to note for interest on his debut and the stamina on his dam's side would suggest that the Stravinsky filly will have no problems with further in time. However, her stable have not enjoyed the best of strike-rates with first time out two-year-olds this season and she is best watched today. Therefore, a process of elimination brings us back to Danish Monarch, who impressed with his attitude when he was just touched off at Beverley last month. Although he is only lightly made, he is a real battler and he brings the right credentials to the track at this particularly tricky time of year.
