held up on inside, headway 3f out, chased leaders 2f out, ran on but not trouble front pair
never a factor
led, ridden over 1f out, one pace when headed well inside final furlong
mid-division and keen hold, ridden over 2f out, weakened over 1f out
slowly into stride, always in rear
soon chasing leaders, short of room over 2f out, ridden when not clear run inside final furlong, not recover
chased leaders, ridden when hung left from 1f out, kept on to lead well inside final furlong
in touch, ridden 3f out, soon weakened
We start with a very tricky nursery and Thoughtsofstardom looks the one to be on, with Nivelle and Carmenero put forward as the likely dangers. The selection improved on his debut effort to land quite a competitive seller at Leicester. It is obviously not the strongest of form but subsequently he does get in here on a very low mark and with more improvement expected he looks to hold strong claims. Nivelle was an impressive winner at Windsor back in June but slightly disappointed next time at Salisbury, if that was just a blip she should figure in the finish. Carmenero could be the best of the others if he reproduces the form of his fourth behind the very smart Sir Percy. So all in all a very open affair to get things under way and it is not with too much confidence we select Thoughtsofstardom.
