The short list contains Sharplaw Autumn, Madaares and Velvet Valley, with the vote going to the first-named. The selection showed plenty of promise when short headed by Participation at Newbury on her debut and, if sharp enough for her seasonal return, looks set to go well in a race that lacks strength in depth. Even though the winner has since been beaten, the third, fourth and fifth from that race have won, so the form looks ok. Madaares was an expensive failure last time, where he finished just in front of Chateau, although today's longer trip should suit. Another that could improve at today's trip is the Sir Michael Stoute-trained Velvet Valley, who made late headway in a Lingfield all-weather maiden last time and, even though the form is sending out mixed messages, he ought to be very competitive in this run-of-the-mill affair. Emilion showed a modicum of promise at Bath last time and the form of that contest may, or may not, have been boosted by Follow The Colours' run at Epsom yesterday. Finally, Lennoxtown cost 180,000 euros but has shown very little in two start to date which, once again, returns us to the selection, which is Sharplaw Autumn.
