Royal Applord, the winner of a claimer over course and distance three starts back can score as he drops back to seven furlongs after two attempts in the same grade over a mile. The ground would have been on the lively side for him on his penultimate start while the opposite could be said last time, where the deep ground prevented him from showing his best. He has the medium here and with race conditions in his favour, he is a solid choice. Le Chiffre, despite dropping in trip last time came from well off the pace to score at this venue, not looking the easiest of rides in the process. Any drying of the ground would aid his cause here. Nok Twice is 5lb better off with Le Chiffre for a 3/4 length beating last time so literal reading of the formbook would suggest Declan Carroll's charge has a big chance of reversing the form but the feeling is that La Chiffre was possibly saving something for himself having hit the front. A fast pace would suit the veteran Efidium. The ten year old found the lively ground on the Knavesmire against him last time and the ease in the surface will suit. Royal Applord is the selection to land it.
