Verdict

There is absolutely no reason to expect that the draw bias towards the far rail will not come into play again so a chance is taken with previous course and distance winner Laurel Dawn, who edges the narrowest of votes over Blessingindisguise, College Hippy and Efimac, who can do their bit to make this a truly run affair. There are numerous other dangers though and notes should be taken on the likes of Loughlorien and Fairgame Man, who are both well treated at present but face no easy task in getting competitive from their low draws. Therefore, we return to Laurel Dawn, who has acted really well when he has enjoyed the benefit of the bias on the far side in the past. The six-year-old can be a bit of a monkey in the preliminaries and it will be no surprise to see him make a bit of a fuss on the way to the start. However, it is what he does in the race that matters and as one that likes to have his own way up front, Laurel Dawn will be very hard to overhaul if he can nab the advantage on the rail from the outset.
