In depth

Verdict

The health scare that was affecting some of Mark Johnston's string seems to have abated so Awesome Love is given the nod over Stephano and Nistaki, who hail from yards that have also enjoyed a steady stream of winners over the last couple of months. Swainsworld, a stablemate of the last named, also has to merit a mention as he is well drawn and should appreciate this longer trip today. However, like a number of the rest, he will probably do better once he is handicapped and may be best watched just of the time being. In contrast to Awesome Love, who is in the rare position of being able to race off a 4lb lower mark than when finishing second here thirteen days ago. Barry Hills will no doubt have a solid line on the selection and a move for Stephano will be very interesting just before the off. However, Awesome Love is will positioned against the far rail and he looks sure to make a bold bid to make the most of the handicapper's generosity if he is allowed an easy lead today.
