    Verdict

Rasaman is taken to get the better of Winthorpe and Hotham in another competitive handicap. Kevin Ryan's 4-year-old won well last time when beating Rothesay Dancer at Hamilton, form that has since been franked by the second. Hotham is a course and distance winner and he is respected as he ran well at Pontefract on Friday night and connections clearly feel that he is ready to get his head in front. Winthorpe disappointed at Pontefract last time but he had run well here previously. However, he is probably better over 6f these days and for that reason we will pass him over. Charles Parnell has been in fair form of late, but he is another that is probably better over an extra furlong. A tricky event which can go the way of Rasaman.
