Paris Bell caught the eye when staying on well at Redcar last time and while he has yet to score this season or over the minimum trip, he is a soft ground performer and the stiff uphill climb at this venue will suit him. 8lb lower than his last winning mark, he made eye-catching progress inside the last furlong on his most recent start and it is worth noting he was squeezed up around 150 yards from the line so might just have finished closer only for that. A win is not far away for Tim Easterby's six year old and today could well be the day. Arganil is lightly raced and merits respect. Aggressive tactics worked the oracle on him last time. The drop back to five furlongs should not be a problem while By The Edge who scored over course and distance on her penultimate start found Hamilton course specialist Rothsay Dancer too good last time but remains competitive off her mark judged on that effort. The veteran Winthorpe is another that should be in the shake-up but he does not seem as effective over five furlongs as six. Select Committee, the second of John Quinn's runners has attracted support on a number of occasions of late. He is edging up the weights but connections now use Jamie Kyne's useful 7lb claim to defy that rise and he could well prove the biggest threat to PARIS BELL who is given the nod.
