GOLD GLEAM is no 'shoe-in' but the track should suit and Jeremy Noseda's colt is selected ahead of Panama Jack, Melundy and newcomer Tombellini. Mr Noseda has a 44% strike-rate at the Northern track and with his horses in good form it is fair to expect a win today. This US-bred colt has run in three solid maidens and the way he finished his race at Doncaster last time out would hint at this testing finish proving ideal. Fine Silk and Mercers Row are exposed and each is opposable, however of more interest is the once-raced Panama Jack. He started at 9/1 on his belated debut at Redcar and shaped with promise without being knocked about; the market should help guide as to expectations today. Ravenfield is closely linked with the selection on their run behind Special Quality at Southwell in May, Tombellini was a cheap purchase but is related to a Red Rossini, whilst Melundy looks the best filly in the line-up after a solid run at Thirsk on her reappearance. That probably needs improving on however if she is to topple our selection Gold Gleam.
