Dabbers Ridge is not as good as he once was but is still capable of fair form as he showed when successful in a seller here over a mile last time but this is tougher and it is hard to get away from SIR GEORGE, who looks the one to beat and is preferred to Arabian Pearl. Peter Chapple-Hyam's filly made an encouraging reappearance at Thirsk last month when fourth to Academy Blues and she has to be respected racing off a 1lb lower mark today. The Ian McInnes-trained Carlitos Spirit has been given a chance by the handicapper but needs to improve on form shown this season to play a part in the finish, while John Quinn's Violent Velocity has been unplaced in both starts this term and is hard to recommend. Just Sam gave little sign for encouragement on her most recent start at Newcastle in October and preference is for Sir George. The son of Mujadil has been running well for Ollie Pears of late with a good win in a Catterick claimer followed by a decent second to Fujin Dancer in a Catterick handicap last month and a reproduction of that form may well suffice.
