In depth
Verdict
GOING FRENCH is of interest here for a yard going well and may represent a more attractive betting proposition at the prices than Grand Zafeen and Bathwick Xaara. Barry Brennan has hit the target with three of his last nine runners and Going French shaped well enough on debut for the yard at the track over a slightly shorter trip last time to think that he may not be long in joining the fold. The three year old is still a maiden but he stayed on nicely after a slow start just over a week ago and should be all the better for his first run since February. Grand Zafeen has been in fine form and should go close again as she remains competitively handicapped whilst Bathwick Xaara has run consistently this summer. Course and distance winner Panpiper and Poppy Golightly are relatively unexposed and have claims in an open race but Going French takes the eye.
