Verdict

Lucky Leigh was a shade disappointing at Newmarket but has the weights in her favour here and can get back to winning ways at the expense of Amour Propre and Gone Hunting. Mick Channon's filly won her maiden in good style at the first time of asking at Redcar before being sent to Royal Ascot to contest the Queen Mary Stakes. She ran a blinder there to finish just three quarters of a length behind Langs Lash despite her high draw and was duly strongly fancied to land the Cherry Hinton. That race was won by a stablemate as the Piccolo filly failed to pick up but the drop in grade, trip and return to racing on faster ground can see her return to winning ways. Gone Hunting is quickly dismissed but Amour Propre may prove to be a different proposition. His debut run (where the soft ground was deemed to be unsuitable) was not devoid of promise and he justified strong support on fast ground at Warwick next time. That race was run in a quick time and the second, Deposer, was impressive next time and is fancied for the Gimcrack. He does need to improve though and has to give a good bit of weight away and that tilts the scales in favour of Lucky Leigh.
