held up in touch, went 3rd over 4f out, no danger to leaders final 2f
made all, 4 lengths clear over 2f out, shaken up over 1f out, carried head high and looked reluctant, kept on, pushed out
started very slowly, in rear to over 4f out, never a factor
tracked leaders, went 2nd 7f out, closed on winner over 1f out, kept on but always held final furlong
tracked winner, weakened rapidly over 4f out, soon tailed off
This will be a penalty kick for the likely odds-on shot Battledress, with both Chalet and Jeffslottery worthy of mention. Battledress has by far the best form in the race, finishing second on both his starts this Flat season. He was only beaten a length behind Heathcote at Chepstow last time out looking a little one-paced. The opposition is far inferior today and he looks a good thing, on paper at least. Chalet was soon outpaced at Lingfield when finishing fifth on his debut run. He will improve but not enough to beat the selection. Jeffslottery looks totally exposed on what he has achieved so far so for the winner we return to Battledress.
