Verdict

It is rather disappointing that King O'The Gypsies remains a maiden after what looked two ideal oppertunities to get off the mark but Roger Charlton's colt can make it third time lucky here. He commenced his career with an eye-catching run in the Wood Ditten at the Newmarket Craven meeting but just appears short of a turn of foot at a vital stage in his two races since. Being a brother to Albanov, it would come as no surprise if he came into his own over further than this but for now, his class should see him through. French Riveria has attained a respectable rating from three maiden outings but in staying that has proved an expensive failure for those that have taken the short odds on offer about him on his last two starts. Forcing tactics were applied last time but he folded very tamely in the closing stages. Full Marks has not fulfilled the promise that she displayed on debut at Leicester last backend. The maiden which she contested at Kempton recently looked ordinary to say the least. That was her first attempt at twelve furlongs and it could not be said she finished out her race strongly so has something to prove on a number of fronts. Inquest showed a semblance of promise on debut at Windsor in what appeared an ordinary maiden at the time and nothing to date could change one's opinion of that. Pat Eddery saddles a very interesting newcomer Sakheela a half-sister to a former useful stayer in Shabernak and Souffleur, last seasons smart staying novice hurdler for Peter Bowen. She is worth keeping a close eye on with the future in mind but for today King O'The Gypsies should prove too good for these.
