Smooth As Silk is selected ahead of Dancing Storm in a warm heat. The selection progressed with each start in maidens and stepped up again on her handicap debut. She was a shade unlucky in running at Beverley and found the line just coming too soon but she'll be wiser now and has the scope to defy a small rise in the weights. Dancing Storm is more exposed and may be high enough in the weights but she merits inclusion on the short-list given the way she scored at Chepstow last time. Cape Velvet is vulnerable to better handicapped horses but there should be more to come from Shanzu if the blinkers have the desired effect. Driven Snow and Silky Steps both merit close consideration whilst Stand In Flames beat all bar one of Sir Mark Prescott's last time and is only a few pounds higher and is yet another with claims. It's too soon to write off Garland whilst Charlevoix and Maybe I Will may well have more to offer as well. So, this does look open but we'll take Smooth As Silk to land the top prize.
