In depth

Verdict

The fillies look the better option in this contest and Marysienka gets the nod ahead of Nine Red and Asia Winds. Richard Hannon's charge is clearly well regarded at home as she wouldn't have been sent off as a favourite on her last two starts. She was keen in the early stages when failing to justify favouritism at Windsor last time out and if she has been learnt how to switch off in the early stages, she should be good enough to take what is a fairly modest maiden. Nine Red is interesting in today's race as she has faced quality opposition in her two racecourse starts at Newbury and Doncaster. She does have a bit of speed about her and five furlongs may not inconvenience. Asia Winds held an entry in the Windsor Castle stakes but was posted up North to contest a Ripon maiden. Her attitude did not impress that day as she hung right throughout the contest and that chink in her armoury will need to be corrected before she wins any races.Having considered all the options, we believe that Richard Hannon's filly must be given another chance and Marysienka gets our vote.
