In depth

Verdict

BADDAM has been a good horse over the years and he is given the vote to take this stayers event ahead of Callisto Moon and Wightgold. The selection is one of only a few horses to have won twice at the Royal Ascot meeting in the same year winning the Ascot Stakes and the Queen Alexandra Stakes in 2006. He was rated as high as 108 in his hay day but can still be a major player off his current mark. If anywhere near his best he ought to go close. Callisto Moon is another that has been around for sometime winning under both flat and jumps codes. His recent form is a little below his best however and for that reason he should be treated with caution. Wightgold lacks experience but she ran a personal best to finish a close second behind Swordsman at Folkestone last time out. If she continues to improve she is sure to be in the shake up come the business end. Baddam is an old favourite of many racing fans and it would be great to see him back in the winners enclosure.
