Mughas was easily the pick of these over hurdles and Alan King's gelding showed enough on his chasing debut when chasing home Dear Villez at Plumpton to suggest that he should be more than capable of taking the honours in this contest that he is taken to do so ahead of Vitray and Ordre de Bataille. The last mentioned ran promisingly on his chasing debut on his reappearance at Uttoxeter last month but it is hard to see him being good enough to beat the selection. Gidam Gidam was useful over hurdles but has disappointed in both starts over the larger obstacles, while Jungleland is less exposed than most of these and could be open to improvement but needs to improve if he is to trouble the judge. The Paul Nicholls-trained Vitray is an interesting recruit from France and could be of interest but Mughas is the clear form pick and he gets the vote.
