A tricky opener for punters and we will take a chance on My Mate Pete, for whom the step up in trip should suit, to get the better of Desert Pride, Brazilian Brush and Sempre Libera. The selection has gone well twice over five furlongs but has the pedigree to be more effective over this trip and beyond. The bare stats from those two outings give him a decent shout anyway, but the fact that he steps up should help him get home in front. Desert Pride put up a very promising debut at Wolverhampton and now tries his luck here. If he is able to build on that maiden outing then he could also go very close. Brazilian Brush and Sempre Libera have both had a couple of outings but neither progressed as expected from their debuts to their second runs though Hughie Morrison's Brazilian Brush looks to have the edge out of that pair and he can have a big say. Felicia has a nice pitch and coming from his connections he should be taken seriously with a pipe opener under his belt if there is market support. Not an easy start to the card then and My Mate Pete is the suggestion.
