Verdict

Hunters Creek, Prokofiev, and Iacacia are all sure to have their supporters and we will take a chance on Hunters Creek. The gelding from the Mary Reveley yard won well on his last run last season when defeating Uncle Bert and off a fair mark and with conditions again in his favour he will be hard to beat. Prokofiev won well last time out when defeating Pharpost and that form has since been franked but he will find this harder under his penalty in a much more competitive affair. Iacacia is also worthy of respect he was a fair third behind Nick The Jewel last time but he has only ever won one race and again he may find one or two to good. Xaipete is another that will like the conditions but he has given the impression that he has been in the grip of the handicapper of late so for that reason is opposed on this occasion. Of the remainder St Pirran would be a danger to all if he were fit after a long absence so we are happy to stick with Hunters Creek.
