John Mackie's Knight In Purple has rather harshly been raised 20lbs for his victory at Doncaster last month and he looks best watched today in a race taken to go to BALLYSIMON, who is preferred to Elite Land. Brian Ellison's gelding comes here on the back of wins at Stratford and Ayr in his last two starts and he has not been too harshly punished by the handicapper having only been raised 2lbs for his latest narrow success so has claims of completing a hat-trick. Elk Trail ran better at Ludlow last time but needs to improve again to trouble the judge in this company, while Claire Dyson's Wheelavit has struggled against the handicapper since winning at Newton Abbot in June. An 8lb rise for his latest win at Warwick, seemingly prevented Tom O'Tara from winning his third race on the bounce on a return visit to the venue last month and of more interest may be the selection, Ballysimon. James Ewart's gelding won well at Wetherby earlier this month and, although he is now 23lbs higher, he won with plenty in hand that day and can follow up that success.
