In depth

Verdict

Lady Lisa is clearly not one of the leading lights in Martin Pipe's stable but the ex-Irish mare made an encouraging first start for her new connections when third at Fontwell last month and is taken to open her account here at the main expense of the consistent pair of La Marette and Gamma-Delta. The last mentioned has run well off a similar mark in his last three starts in a handicap and is entitled to respected along with Alessandro Severo, who has a nice racing weight and showed improved form last time. At the other end of the handicap, Rocket Bleu faces no easy task giving weight away all round and of more interest may be Henry Daly's Rumbling Bridge, who is less exposed than most of these and may be open to improvement. Willie The Fish reverts to hurdling after a spell chasing but does not appear to be particularly well treated and of more interest may be the consistent La Marette, who deserves to win a race of this nature but probably needs some help from the handicapper. Lady Lisa showed enough on her debut for Martin Pipe at Fontwell to suggest that she can figure off her current low mark and is taken to open her account.
