In depth

Verdict

After Me Boys comes here fresher than most and, along with the consistent Mini Dare, has to be respected but Field Roller should improve significantly for the step up in trip and gets the vote. The selection looked a thorough stayer when landing an extended two-mile novices' hurdle at Exeter in January and again when weakening over the same course and distance on his handicap debut subsequently. The longer trip today should suit Martin Pipe's gelding ideally and he gets the vote. After Me Boys can be expected to run his usual good race and is open to improvement after just two runs previously this season, while Lorgnette has shown better form in her last two starts and is entitled to be thereabouts. Bohemian Boy has claims on his best but is inconsistent and of more interest may be Charlie Mann's Versus, who is potentially well treated. Mini Dare deserves to win a race having run with such consistency of late but may again have to settle for a minor role behind Field Roller, who is taken to showed a marked improvement for being stepped up in trip.
