Saby is taken to give weight away all round here, with Raise A McGregor, York Rite and Pete The Painter worth a mention at least. None of the 12 runners here stand out in truth, but Saby is at least going the right way, having got that bit closer on each of his three runs this term. The Philip Hobbs-trained seven-year-old was staying on well enough at Newton Abbot last time, so the step up in trip should be in his favour, and the fact that he is not badly handicapped on the best of his form adds to his chances in a race that should not take a great deal of winning. Raise A McGregor is a past course and distance winner round here, but has been hard to place of late. He nearly managed to pull it off at Southwell the time before last though and should not be ruled out entirely. York Rite ran his best race for some time when second at Sedgefield, and could be about to hit form again, but Pete The Painter definitely needs to improve his jumping to figure strongly. From previous experience Claude Greengrass is not one to rely on, and so we shall stick with Saby.
