In depth

Verdict

BALRANALD and Armattiekan were one-two here last month with the latter now 5lb better off for a beating of just under four lengths. That puts them close on the book, but the winner looked to win with something to spare despite it being a first hurdling victory in 23 attempts. He also went close at Carlisle two starts back and is worth staying with. The McCain horse rates a danger and connections appear to be pursuing the hurdling route where he's rated 11lb lower than over fences. The Hanlon team are double-handed with Mezyan rated the likelier of the pair on the best of his form and it will be noteworthy to see how he fares in the market after being beaten over 70 lengths last time. En Avant is another Irish raider needing a market check and the unexposed Jina is one to note for Nicky Henderson.
