Verdict

Illustrissime overcame trouble in-running to land the odds at Southwell on his hurdling debut . That run was probably better than it looked and he has plenty of scope. Ballard Down, another Flat winner, was second at Southwell eight days ago but needs to brush up his jumping. SEE THE SEA made all at Cartmel and found more when her market rival threatened on the final circuit. If she’s allowed an easy lead, Donald McCain’s mare could take some catching again. Marcel Debruxelles hasn’t shown a great deal so far and doesn’t appear to be one of Nicky Henderson’s stable stars.
