      Verdict

      Mulligatawny carried a huge weight to victory in a slightly lower-class handicap at Ripon but this looks tougher off 5lb higher. Corton Lad has been racing over much further in better company and whether he has the pace for this nowadays is unknown. WEEKEND OFFENDER has never raced over a trip this far but his last victory over a mile at York in October was in a better race than this. He was staying on strongly on a return visit last month and shouldn't be inconvenienced by stepping up. Gworn has won three times over the course and distance since April and it will be a surprise if he's not in contention again while the moderate Alexandrakollontai has been brilliantly placed to win 12 races, including at this level., so can't be ignored.
